(Geometry and Math Analysis Recommended)

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES:

1) To develop an understanding of kinematics and its measurement.

2) To develop an understanding of dynamics and its measurement.

3) To develop an understanding of the conservation of energy and momentum.

4) To develop an understanding of the kinetic theory of matter.

5) To develop an understanding of the wave phenomena.

6) To develop an understanding of electricity and magnetism.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

The course is designed to introduce students to topics that will be covered in their first year of college physics. A mathematical approach will be emphasized with the laboratory work being used to reinforce the concepts and relate them to the physical world.

WHAT STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO DO:

1)   Take notes on lecture and examples problems.

2)   Complete assignments neatly and on time.

3)   Actively participate in class.

4)   Complete laboratories in a safe, orderly and scientific manner.

5)   Maintain a successful average on tests and quizzes.

6)   Provide their own TI‑83 graphing calculator (recommended).

EVALUATION:

Grades will be based on accurately completing specified tasks in class, on homework assignments and on quizzes and tests.
