Length of Course: One Semester Prerequisite of Graphic Communications

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES:

1) Careful development, in each student, of appreciation of good design and / workmanship.
2) Development of good attitudes and practices with respect to health and safety.
3) Making the habit of being orderly and completing a daily routine.
4) To provide for the student a class which will train him or her in the metals area.
5) Careful analysis of organization of students’ use and care of machines.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Metal technology is a class designed to familiarize the student with different phases of metal working. The course concentrates on sheet metal. ARC welding and oxygen/acetylene welding and cutting. The students will learn the different types of welding and fastening methods, along with various joints and construction methods used in sheet metal: Projects will be planned and built with emphasis put on design and procedure. The students will be evaluated on projects, exercises and quality of work completed.

WHAT STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO DO:

1) Complete assigned work as assigned.
2) Take proper care of all equipment.
3) Take all tests and quizzes.
