Welcome to Mrs. Cook's Kindergarten


The Classroom

The room is filled with excitement as we have completed the first round of alphabet. I feel very confident we can identify our letters.  The next stage or round we will use the letters to hear them in the begginning of a word and at the end of the words.  As we write the letters, only the correct formation will be accepted.  Wow that is alot. 
Well that is not all.....we are also learning new sight words....and we even built a family with some of these words!  

 Here are the sight words your child should be able to read:  I, the, see, a in, is, this, here, will, go

Please have fun with these words and have your child find them in books, write them, read them, and make sentences with them!  You may find a baggie comeing home for you to practice these words with your child.

Math
We have learned our numbers 1-10.  We have counted and wrote these numbers.  We have also been working with the number line of what come before and after a number.
Discussing plane and solid shape is always fun in the classroom.  We found objects to help us identify them.
We will move into learning the numbers 11-20.  We will be using 10 frames and bean sticks to help us understand how to build these numbers.


I NEED YOUR HELP! 
Please make sure you send notes with your child if they are going home on a different route. 
Please keep talking about ways to use your hands.  Hitting in not acceptable and students will find themselves using there time and missing out on activities if it continues.

ink cartiages -HP Photosmart 02  (colors Cyan, yellow, Magneta, and black)
Clorax wipes
Gallon size baggies
