Hinton Community Schools' Return to Learn Leadership Team developed Return to Learn plans for 3 possible delivery methods as directed by the Iowa Department of Education. These plans were developed to ensure our district is prepared to continue to deliver high quality education by seamlessly moving from one delivery model to another if conditions relating to COVID-19 change within the state, community, or school buildings. Delivery models could also change to accommodate inclement weather (for example, moving from On-Site model to the On-line Required Continuous Learning model on days we would have missed due to inclement weather).
We plan to start the 2020-2021 school year implementing our On-Site delivery model. Our preference is to always utilize an On-Site delivery model when possible, believing that the On-Site model provides the optimal learning situation for our students. We want to emphasize that the Hybrid delivery model would only be used as a last resort when recommendations from the governor or Department of Public Health indicate that such a plan is necessary.
The 3 delivery model plan types are:
On-Site - On-Site Learning occurs when a decision is made that buildings can operate and students can return to school. The adopted calendar and typical schedule for students will be followed. Recommended Health and Safety precautions will be taken. - Read This Plan -
Required Continuous Learning (Distance Learning) - The Required Continuous Learning delivery model will be utilized when a decision is made for emergency closure of a building and/or buildings. The Required Continuous Learning model could also be used in place of cancelling school due to inclement weather. Families and staff will be notified through Powerschool, Remind, and our district social media sites when a change in delivery models is being implemented. - Read This Plan -
Hybrid - The Hybrid model will be enacted based on the decision from the Iowa Department of Public Health or by the Governor. This is a model where Hinton will operate with half capacity and social distancing maintained. During the hybrid learning model, the school calendar - as well as student and staff schedules - will be adjusted. Students will be on-site on some days and learning virtually on others. - Read This Plan -
