Greetings Blackhawks:

I wanted to introduce myself to the Hinton community as I begin serving as the interim superintendent for the 2020-2021 school year.   The Hinton and River Valley school boards both approved an operational sharing agreement last week to share the superintendent position.  This means I will split my time between both districts 50/50.  I am still working on the schedule but to get started I will be in Hinton on Tuesdays and Thursdays and one other half-day.  Obviously, flexibility is needed  given different situations that can arise in both districts.

I had the opportunity to visit the school on Thursday and I came away confident this will work well due to the excellent staff and administration in both districts.  This can be mutually beneficial to the districts as each will receive  $55,000 in supplemental weighting dollars next school year while also paying less for salary.

I will be working with the school board, administration, and staff to  provide a safe environment for the students and staff. I will enjoy forming relationships and learning more about the Hinton community. My perception of Hinton has always been that there is  a great amount of pride for its town and school.  I look forward to being apart of that and will do my part to help during this challenging year.   In closing, I would like to thank Kathy Rhodes for stepping up and taking care of the superintendent duties and for the phenomenal job she did during the transition. Time to get to work! #GoBlackhawks!
