News

Dear Families,

I hope you are doing well and are enjoying the nice fall weather. As you may know, there will be a voted Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) on the ballot for Hinton schools on Tuesday, November 2.

In advance of that vote, we are hosting a public forum to provide information on the PPEL and to answer questions from our community members. This forum will be part of the School Board meeting on Monday, October 18, at 7 p.m. in the library of our 4-12 Building.

A PPEL is a voter-approved levy that generates funds a district can use for infrastructure and equipment repairs, purchases, and improvements. Funds may be used only for these purposes.

If residents approve the voted PPEL, the district would target the following projects:

  • Facilities condition study for future school planning

  • One-to-one technology initiative (providing a device for each student)

  • Bus maintenance and replacement

  • Other school vehicle maintenance and replacement

  • Parking improvements and additions

  • Safety and security equipment

  • Playground equipment (grades 4-6)

  • Classroom furniture

  • Refurbishing of middle school locker rooms

  • ADA accessibility improvements across campus

While not all these projects may be completed, they are the items we have deemed to be the highest priority.

If you have questions about the November 2 PPEL vote, please attend Monday's School Board meeting. You can also visit https://www.hintonppel.org. As always, thank you for your support of HCSD and the students we serve!

Sincerely,

Ken Slater

Superintendent
