Junior high students attended this year's Tolerance Week presentation, hosted by the Tolerance Alliance at the Sioux City Orpheum on Wednesday, April 9. Some of the students had the opportunity to meet with Holocaust Terezin Survivor Inge Auerbacher. Every year, Tolerance Week offers an essay and art contest. This year, 8th grader Logan Hageman received an Honorable Mention for his essay.

In celebration of National Ag Week, we held our Drive Your Tractor to School event! FFA members met with 4-6 graders to talk about their tractors. We even had some preschool visitors stop by since it fit right in with their transportation theme this week.

Hinton FFA was one of five FFA chapters representing the Iowa Corn Growers Association at the Capitol Building in Des Moines yesterday. We learned about current legislation affecting Iowa Farmers and had an opportunity to sit in the Senate gallery and hear the Senators debate on a bill regarding glyphosate. We spent some time with Iowa's Deputy Secretary of Ag, Grant Menke. He spoke to us about his career and addressed issues relating to glyphosate, avian influenza, E85 fuel, and Iowa agriculture's impact on the United States and the world.
