District FFA Convention was held at MOC-FV High School yesterday. Below are the results! Congratulations to Haley Copenhaver who was elected to serve at the District Treasurer for 2024-2025! She is the first Hinton FFA member to be elected to District Office! Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Naig, visited the 4th grade class to kick off March's Read Across Iowa. He was greeted by FFA members then read a book to the students about grape production. The students wrapped up the activity by sampling different varieties of grape juice and jelly. Sidney Riemschneider, from Ag in the Classroom, presented the lesson. Did you know Iowa has 1,300 vineyards?

Ms. Jecenta Sargisson is student teaching in the Agriculture Classroom this semester! Ms. Sargisson taught the Plant Science students the basics of floral design and the students were able to create their own bud vase floral arrangements.

The Ag Power and Technology Class learned about the components which make up a builder's level. They then used the builder's levels and leveling rods to measure elevation at multiple points along a hillside. Finally, the students were able to utilize their elevation and distance measurements to evaluate the grade (slope).
