Congratulations to the Hinton FFA Chapter for receiving 5th place in the State FFA Veterinary Science Contest! The team included Rylie Hermelbracht, Taylor DeRocher, Lainee Sitzmann, and Madyson Hoppe. FFA teams from 29 chapters participated in this year's Career Development Event designed to provide the students an opportunity to display their agricultural knowledge and skills in the area of Veterinary Science. The 115 individuals completed a general knowledge examination focusing on veterinary science. The team members also completed a written scenario and prepared a video focusing on proper veterinary clinical practices. Rylie Hermelbracht received 10th place overall! Congratulations ladies!

Varsity will play first at Trinity Christian. Game starts at 4:30 with JV to follow.

Congratulations to Hinton FFA members Rylie Hermelbracht, Isabell Hodgson, Piper Kaiser, and Haley Copenhaver as they made up the very first Horse Judging team to represent our chapter at the State FFA Horse Evaluation contest. The contest was held at Kirkwood Community College on June 11th and there were over 40 high school teams registered. These ladies worked so hard and it certainly paid off, resulting in a 8th place finish and a gold rating! The contest included tack identification, problem solving, a knowledge test (horse breeds, diseases, management, nutrition, reproduction, etc), and oral reasons for halter and performance classes.
Special thanks to Prairie Rose Equestrian Center, Jenny Linton, Andrea Loges, Justin Plendl, Jennifer Copenhaver, and Paula Hodgson for helping coach the team!

A big Blackhawk welcome to, Cassie Grell, our newest social studies teacher.

Welcome, Brecken Hayes, Hinton's newest 4-12 physical education teacher.

Today we honored Judy Stauffer. She has been with the Hinton Community School District for over 35 years and will be retiring at the end of the school year. She started here in the library, then ran the lunchroom, and most recently was a paraprofessional. She will be missed!
